  • Dimarzio Super Distortion??

    hey guys,
I might buy a Lespaul (yes, a 2nd epiphone lespaul) that has a Dimarzio Super Distortion in the bridge. What should I expect from that pickup in a Lespaul? On clean sounds? highgain?

Is it a dark toned pickup? bassy? lots of highs?

    any info would help

    Thanks,
    Duke

      Hey Jeremy,
Thanks for the info. Does it have lots or enough highs to compliment the lowend and mids on it? cause I looked at the tone chart, it seems to have alot of low end & mids, but not much highs.

Cause i dont want a dark sounding pickup. I need somthing with highs for clarity and cut.

EDIT - by the way.. how does it compare to somthing like the SD Custom Sh-5 and/or the Duncan Distortion Sh-6?

      Thanks

A lot of mids and bass with the character of a ceramic magnet.

People often think it's too dark because it's fat but It's actually aslo bright enough.

It's Treble: 5.5 Mids: 7.5 Bass: 8.0. So there's enough highs not to sound too dark, and at 13.68K, it's not as overwhelmingly hot as most people think. It's still a great rock option.

There is nothing that compares as far as thick mids with a rock solid bottom end in the SD line up IMO.

i had one in my alder bodied flying v, and it was as thick and meaty as i can remember. It cuts through nicely, and harmonics are just waiting to be coaxed from it. Good bet if you want a hard rock sound!
