  • HELP!! Single Coil Pickup recommendations to match SD JB humbucker

    Hi all

    First post on this forum

    So here's the dilemma,

I have a strat style guitar which is too vintagey for my liking (yepp i said it), I get great tones from the bridge pup @ high-ish gain settings but the neck/middle (SC's) sound shrilly and trebly.. seems like the SC's dont like higher gain settings although they sound great at low gain settings or when the volume is rolled back..

I've tried to play around with the pickup heights but if I set the SCs too low they dont sound too good at clean and lower gain settings...

    Here's the axe specs:

    Alder body
    maple neck
    rosewood fingerboard
    2-point tremolo
    Bridge humbucker is SD JB
    Neck ??
    Middle ??
    1 x 250K Volume
    2 x 250K Tone

I am after pickups to suit heavier styles of music; Whitesnake, early bon jovi, skid row etc.. but at the same time are versatile enough to do SRV, hendrix etc..

I'm set on the SD JB humbucker for the bridge position; which 2x single coils would work well with the JB keeping all of the above constant?

    thanks//Vikk

PS: I'm not keen on stacked SCs or SC sized HBs.
Working...
