  • Roots/Blues/Jazz/Rock alternative set-up

How many other players prefer a warm med. output neck pickup combined with a bridge single coill?
It's a real nice setup for roots/blues/jazz/rock style, but I may be quite the exception using this setup.

Bridge 'buckers always seem over middy to me leaving them useful for soloing only. I want both pick-ups to be able to handle the full range of chordal, solo, clean and overdriven sounds.

One of my Strats has a DMZ PafPro in the neck, and a Seth bridge model with only the slug coil connected.
My favorite position is the neck split with bridge Seth (slug coil) in series.
One PafPro coil is 4.2k and the Seth coil is 4.05, so in series you get the whole of each coil giving you an 8.25k DC resistance. Normally, those two coils would be wired (together) in parallel, so the total out put is WEAK, WEAK, WEAK!
You lose a bit-o-quack, but quack to me is too gimmicky sounding to be important.
