  • JAZZ babee!

I got my Jazz today, put it in...I'm likin' it a lot.

Beautiful cleans, very clear and sweet...more so than the 59. Less bass, which for me equates to a better "woman tone" (I know that's a cliche, don't hate). Plenty of output too. It's just what I was looking for.

nice review! i like to test the Jazz too but i still think i need something hotter. I enjoyed the JB in the neck. But the clarity of the Jazz everyone is talking about is something i like to test and less bass is always good. Btw never heard the "woman tone" thing .
I think i have to try Seymours Fav Combo.

I'm glad you said it first. I see that term all the time and likewise, don't know what it refers to.

Woman tone is something Clapton came up with, where he uses the neck pickup and rolls the tone all the way to 0, to get an extremely bassy sound, he describes it in detail on the cream farewell concert dvd. You can hear it a lot on the cream songs.

As for the jazz pickup, I agree, it is my favorite neck pickup, a lot of people won't even give it a chance because of the name. BTW have you tried a coil split with the jazz? Amazing, I use it split more than with both coils on.

I have toyed with the idea. It would take a lot of work to do that in a Gibson LP though.

As soon as I get it installed, I'll post a review of a Jazz neck with an A2 magnet. I don't think anyone's tried that magnet swap yet.

                  Re: JAZZ babee!

I just became acquainted with the Jazz pickup recently myself, in the neck of this Schecter I just bought. I, too, am amazed at how smooth and clear it sounds. Plus, this guitar came from the factory with the switch/wiring configured for splitting the coils enabling some nice Strat and Tele sounds from both the Jazz and the JB that also came stock with the guitar.
Great combo. From smooth as silk (Jazz) to rippin' your head off (JB).
                  Can you say "versatility?"
                  Sure....I knew you could.

                  Rock on
