hey guys, havent posted in here for a while, im lookin to upgrade the pickups in my strat, they just are doing exactly what i want
i was wondering if a twang banger in the bridge could give me a close tone to what page had on the first albums (he actually used a tele if i remember correctly?)....this strat has a maple neck, alder body and a slightly fat sound
ill be playing into a late 70s hiwatt DR103 with most likely a pedal (maybe my DS1 or Tonebender i recently created)....so i can get some nice british dirt and punch
while im at it, ill probably replace the neck pickup because i find it too fat sounding, getting into that SRV territory that i just dont dig....ive been contemplating over a Fralin Vintage Hot, or maybe a fender Custom Shop 69 pickup..... i want a real glassy poppy tone, that is so stratty you can barely take it, kind of the sound on "Wind Cries Mary"....just that beautiful glassiness....i dont want it for much distortion or anything, merely a clean tone that will really stand out in a band situation
