Method #2 is considered the conventional way to wire up a dual-volume control guitar. It doesn't matter on the tone controls whether the cap, or pot comes first. You can do those either way.

Please excuse the kindergarten drawings, but I think you get the idea. My epi had number 2 and I switched it to number 1 when I changed pots. My Gibson had number 1 originally. Is there any tonal difference? I cant say because the epi pots sounded like turds on a hot sidewalk. It smokes now, but Im contributing that to the pots/caps rather than the wire setup? ??? Thanks for looking at the pics.....lets assume the jack and switch are wired correctly (the same for each setup?) 2 seems like just a bunch of extra wire?? peace
