can i use one of my stock 250k tone pots as a blender pot, or do i have to buy a special pot? i have a schematic, and want to do it, but the schematic i have doesn't specify if i am to use one of my existing tone pots or if i have to buy something else.

Re: blender pot question
You can, it will still work, you'll just get a little bleed thru from the *other* pup when only one is selected. The first blender pots weren't no-loads, so it worked okay there. Try it, if you like it, then don't fix it, if you want to just convert the pot to a no-load pot (StratD's) nail polish trick will work just fine ... just take the pot out, take the pot body (back) off, apply the polish over the end of the track where the wiper sits when on *10* (move the wiper out of the way first of course), let dry, do a couple of coats, make sure it's dry, put the pot body (back) back on, put it back in, and there you go.::::To sound reinforcement engineer::::

Re: blender pot question
I believe a blend pot is a special pot just for the blend function.

Re: blender pot question
A blender pot is simply a no load pot wired as a blender IIRC. I cant remember if you need a 250k or 500k. If you have ALOT of patience you might be able to scrape your 250 up to 500. I brought a 213 up to 260 with this method.
If you dont want to make a one, just buy a no load pot. A pot being sold as a blender will cost about 10 while a no load pot runs about 4, even tho they do the same thing. Here's the link:

Re: blender pot question
I could swear the original blend pots in the Fralin equipped Rodriguez Custom strats were a standard 250k-A, at least in the two axes that a friend of mine had made ...and they worked fine. I think the no-load part came later, and they probably cahnged the taper as well, but yeah it will work. don't confuse a blender with the dual ganged blend control, a type of opposing dual volume control for blending between two pups, rather than blending the other in from 0 up to unity.::::To sound reinforcement engineer::::
