  • Getting a new neck PU, but want to disagree with Tone Wizard!

I used the tone wizard for a H-H (les paul or similar), mahogany body, ebony fretboard guitar. I feel the current pickups sound weak (no bass), so I'm inclined to get a '59, though tone wizard says Alinco II or Pearly Gates.

Am I out of line? BTW, I play Rock-Metal.

Current Pickups are EMG81s. I intend to take them out and throw in a basswood ibanez I have. I am familiar with how they sound as I have another guitar (Alder-strat, rosewood board) that sounds much better with them.

The tone wizrd offers very conservative advice. Don't feel limited to its suggestions.

The most popular thread I've ever made was 1) a joke and 2) based around literally the most inane/mundane question I could think of. That says something about me, or all of you, or both.

Yep, what they said. They're your ears, listen to what they're telling you.

If you like the clean sound of a Full Shred for playing jazz standards, then so be it. I really hope that you don't go with that suggestion, but you get the idea...lol
