  • Best Wiring for CC in Strat

How do you guys have your CC wired? I have a MIM Fat Strat, but the previous owner put all 500k tone pots in it. Would there be big difference between leaving it wide open or using the middle 500k pot for the CC?

Hey Blue Dream; I'm not completely sure what you're asking, but I'll take a shot.

As for the 500k tone controls, they'll sound exactly like a 250k, from 5 to 0. From 5 to 10, you'll be able to dial-in a bit more treble. Perhaps, too much. If you find yourself with them constantly on 5 or lower, you could always swap them back to 250's.

You can move the tone controls to whichever lug on the 5-way that suits you. If it was me, I think I'd connect one to the neck pup wire, and one to the bridge pup wire. That way, you'ld have a tone control for every position excpet the middle, by itself. Also, the two tone controls would never interact with each other. Just so you realize though, thats not conventional Strat wiring.
