  • First reflection of the EMG 81/89

So I spent almost the whole night installing my EMG's inn my SChecter C1+. 81b/89n...

Worked all day, tired as hell, just waiting to get home to try them out.

Plugged it into my Line6 POD 2, and without tweaking any settings, just choosing my favorite presets on the POD, my first reflection is this:

81: As expected loads of distortion, just a tiny bit too trebley, but with some tweaking of the EQ, man I know this baby will give me all the metal sound I ever wished for. Cleans didn't sound very good...

89 set as humbucker: Much bassier than the 81, fuller sound, not so much distortion as the 81. Cleans sounded decent when I rolled the volume off a little bit...

89 set as single coil: Pretty good, sort of singing lead sound when distorted, very good cleans!

So far I'm happy, I know I'll be able to pull a variety of tones out of these babies, a little tweaking and I'll probably see how happy I'll be in the future?
But so far so good, they sure are classes above those HB-103's I had before.. (Not that I expected anything else)
Rek Custom Guitar (Duncan Full Shred set)
Peavey Vandenberg Ed.2 (Tom Anderson HN3, DiMarzio Chopper)
Peavey Vandenberg Custom Quilt Top (Stock pickups)
