  • Identifing a SD pickup

What label is on the bottom of an SSL1 RW/RP and is there any other way to identify an SSL1/SSL1 RWRP other than the label.

    Re: Identifing a SD pickup

It would simply have an "SSL1" sticker on it. Plus, there may be an additional stamping or sticker that says "80031500234".

If it doesn't have the sticker, its a little more difficult. You could measure the resistance with a meter, and see if it reads around 6.5k ohms.

Then, with the meter set to volts, and the red lead on the white wire, and the black lead on the black wire, place a peice of metal against the pup, then pull it away quickly. The meter should read positive for just a moment.

Can't think of anything else - other than installing it with a known SSL1 neck, and seeing how they react with each other.

Edit: I just realized . . . measuring the resistance won't tell you much. The SSL-1, SSL-2, APS-1, and APS-2 will all read around that same amount.
