Mag swaping a P90 in the neck position? and other P-90 & 1/4# stuff.

Has any one swapped the ceramic mags of a neck model SP90-2 and or SP90-3 out for AlNiCo? I am curios about the change in tone and volume. Also what sort of difference in volume and tone would there be between the neck and bridge model of an SP90-1 "in the neck position"?
I am also wondering about the tone and volume difference between a SSL-4 Quarter Pound flat and an SP90-1 and SP90-2
Thanks, John

Reducing the magnet strength of an S90-2 or -3 will leave you with a highly overwound pickup. IMO, it might be worth trying one in the bridge position. I would expect Mud City in the neck position.

On one of my own guitars, I use an SP90-2n in the bridge position and a stock Gibson P-90 in the neck position. The result is a nice volume balance. I freely admit that I "borrowed" this idea from PRS Guitars' McCarty Soapbar model.

It is interesting about the over wound thing. A SP90-2 neck has a DCR of 11.86K compared to a SP90-1 bridge DCR of 9.35K. I realize that there other factors at play there and I do not know what gauge wire is used for each of these which has an effect.
