I Dont Understand?????

hey everyone, this is not really a question, its a comment......i dont understand how all these micky mouse bands out there are soo seccessful, bands like simple plan and green day..(dont get me wrong, there good), but i've heard alot of people on this forum and heard thier stuff, you guys are incredibly good, and it just makes me upset that all these mtv bands are doing soo good with there crappy guitaring that is all easy chords, and shredders like most people here dont get that kind of recognition.......you guys are awsome......keep rocking.

Because the record lables arnt looking for shredders and virtuosos. As talented as those people are thats not what the majority of young people are into so they dont sell alot of records. Record companies are constantly searching for bands that fold the mold and flavour of the day cause thats whats gonna sell records and get them money so thats the typa bands that get record deals and get promoted and so thats what young people see on tv and on the radio so thats what they buy.

Alot of it is quite mediocre but there are a few gems out there that are worth more then then existing as hit machines that will most likely fade out a few years after their brand of music is no longer what is considered cool to teens etc.

Its a shame but thats just the way it is. If you wanna hear good music its out there you just have to go looking for it there will always be people out there that just do their own thing and sell records but just fly under the radar for most part just look and its there.

Another thing, alot of the guitarists in these bands arnt of bad as they would appear. Alot of them are hard working guitarists striving to better themselves technically and creativly on the guitar they just play what is popular and cool because thats how they make money, Dont let the poser flogger image fool you alot of these people are just like us.

If you're looking for a culture to appreciate true musicianship and creativity than you need to look at europe. Here in the states, a business is all it is anymore.

Unfortunately, this is very true. Check out Japan, too. Lots of the guys that the US has forgotten about (Paul Gilbert, Marty Friedman) are flourishing in Japan.
