  • Need project advice with wiring/pots/pup

I am in the planning stage of a project. Long story short: chambered warmoth tele body maple cap on mahogony with rear route control cavity, fishman vintage style power bridge http://www.fishman.com/products/elec...r-products.asp

Here is the part that I am sure I will get a few comments about. I wanna try putting antiquities in it. I wanna put a tele bridge antiquity in the bridge position, a tele antiquity neck in the middle position, and a antiquity PAF in the neck position.

I am not sure how to approach the wiring. I need to nail that down before I order the body. I know I will use a 5-way switch. I am looking for ideas on how to configure the wiring. Volume, tone, tone? Volume, blender, tone? Volume, volume, tone, tone? Which pots? which caps?
(I will probably use a powerchip pot for one of the pots). I am looking for ideas, advice, constructive criticism, diagrams, or whatever. Any help appreciated!!

I'd personally go with a Megaswitch for the magnetics, so you can have:

    1. Bridge
    2. Bridge and middle
    3. Bridge and neck
    4. Neck and middle
    5. Neck.

I would use a concentric pot, with a 500k/250k value, so you can use the 500k for master volume and the 250k for master tone. I would also install a three way on/on/on mini switch, to have the ability to play either the mags alone, piezo system alone, or both as a blend. Use the Fishman Powerchip to control the piezos and wire everything up to a stereo jack and you should be set.

BTW, it seems like it'll be a killer guitar.
    Ain't nothin' but a G thang, baby.

Go with the Powerchip for one of the controls. Piezo systems work their best with some sort of active preamp, whether it be onboard or a floor unit. I have a Baggs piezo system on my Strat, I have it wired with master volume, master tone, and piezo control. I recommend this type of a layout, along with a five way switch and push/pull pots on the volume and tone knobs. One of them turns the neck pickup on when it's pulled up, giving you two extra switching combinations (neck and bridge, all three at once.) The other puts the bridge and neck in series when pulled up. It's a lot of wiring work, but it results in a very versatile guitar. If you decide you want to try this, let me know, I have a wiring diagram left over from when I did mine.

Sounds cool!!! Thanks for the advice. I will have to look into the megaswitch. I like the pickup combo's. so it looks like 3 pots, a miniswitch, and stereo jack. Well thanks for the advice again.
