  • pickup wiring

i have a low end ibanez (model I don't remember) with two single coils and a humbucker in the bridge

i want to replace the humbucker with a duncan humbucker.

now the stock pickup has a wire connecting with the selector and the bare wire
    to the volume pot.
the duncan has the red/white/green/black/bare wires.
now i solder the red and whit together and tape.
then solder the black to the selector switch where the stock one was.
now what do i do with the green and bare wire?

the diagram says to ground the green, so i assume i solder it to the back of the volume pot.

    right?

    thanks

    Re: pickup wiring

Yup . . . green and bare soldered together to the back of the pot should do it.

    And welcome to the forum.

      Re: pickup wiring

if the pickup however sounds weird or only 1 coil is working then it is out of phase. simply swap the black wire with the green wire, so that the green is on the switch and the black on the volume pot with the bare wire. this tends to happen when you mix pickups from different brands.
