I think I've only seen this once before in my life, but it just goes to show that "stuff" happens.
A customer brings me an Eric Clapton Strat, complaining of the weird taper on the volume pot. It has 50k stamped on the back. Sure enough, the Fender manual calls for 50k. I measure the pot . . . it's 285k.
Just goes to show, expect the unexpected, sometimes.
