  • Pickup Cover Question

Where can I get a cover for a Duncan quarter pounder jazzmaster pickup? I ordered from Warmoth last week along with a Duncan vintage jazzmaster pickup, and I assumed that they would come with everything I needed to install them, but I was looking at the site today and noticed that the fine print says "Cover not included".

I can get a generic jazzmaster cover set from allparts that should work for the vintage, but I'm guessing that it won't work for the quarter pounder because it has larger pole pieces. I've been scouring the net but I can't find anywhere that sells a cover for a quarter pound jazzmaster. Anyone know where I can get my hands on one? Or will the standard allparts cover work?

you might check with Warmoth ... as far as I know, the strat QP comes with a cover, since stock covers don't fit the larger poles correctly

I would expect the same for the Jazzmaster QP - the "no cover" comment may just be a general comment

Well I just got off the phone with Warmoth. They guy said that no, it doesn't come with a cover, and Warmoth doesn't sell pickup covers, but he thought that the quarter pounders would work with standard jazzmaster covers, despite the larger pole pieces. Erm... I'm very skeptical.

          look at this:

despite the larger pole size, the poles don't actually come up past the top of the bobbin. Any size hole, or no hole for that matter, should fit. (note that this is me looking at the picture and diagram and having no real experience with the said pickup.)

AHA! I think that's the answer. I didn't realise it's different from regular jazzmaster pickups with pole pieces that stick out past the top of the bobbin. Thanks for pointing it out
