  • Mastertone SPA set up question...

My cousin has gotten a Mastertone SPA (super phat ass) bridge pickup installed on his jackson. He is a metal head, hence the pickup (from the reviews i just read).

This is the first time ive heard of this pickup, and the reviews look like its the best metal active pickup around. Anyway onto the question.

Should these be just as close to the guitars strings as in the duncan specs. Because i saw my cousins guitar the other day and i was wondering why it sounded so thin and i noticed the pickup was a long way away from the strings.

What do you pickup masters think?

Hey dude! I find you can have active p'ups VERY close to the strings because of the LOW magnetic pull on the strings.

Where did you find Duncan specs on pickup height? Curious.
