Baseplate question

Hey guys, is the bare wire the only thing soldered to the baseplate? I'm thinking of swapping baseplates to avoid having to grind down the mounting tabs to make them fit. Do I just desolder the bare wire from the old baseplate, and then resolder it on to the new one? Thanks.
