I'm following up from my previous thread on the nashville tele, it would be great if you could check the wiring for me. I usually just wire from other people's layouts but I couldn't find anything that would work for me so I gave it a try. I think it's the easiest to get all the tones I was after.

Also feel free to comment on the pickup choices, of course. I'm thinking SSL1 tapped for neck, SSL1 or 2 for middle, the current bridge tele pickup (Fender Am Std) and if the bridge pickup doesn't play well with the others, maybe upgrade to either a Jerry Donahue APTL-3JD or a Five two STL52-1 in the bridge (I guess RWRP).

Thanks!

Soooooo.... 70 views and no feedback? Maybe I should make it more polemic and talk about DCR? lol

I retract my earlier vote, I believe I see an on the 4 way, but the SPDT and everything is spot on. It might not be a problem, you did it different than I would have. One question I do have is how did you get a tapped SSL-1? Custom Shop?

Good to hear, thanks for the feedback!

I was waiting to get the ok on the wiring before ordering it. I was going to see if it's custom floor but if not I guess I'll do custom shop.

Someone said something about DCR?! DCR Means nothing!! Troll troll troll.

These are the options which qualify for a Shop Floor Custom. It doesn't look like a tap is on the list. Why would you want to tap an SSL-1? It seems a little low in output to tap.

You’re right, not there. I’ve never bought an SSL1 with tap but I thought at least others were available via a Normal dealer, I assumed that was shop floor, but I guess it’s called something different. I’ve reached out to mine, let’s see what I hear back.

I want to tap it for the series position with the bridge per my previous thread.

It took me 3 months but I finally got to it. I’ll update the wiring in the first post for posterity since I ended up using a tapped middle sc and not a neck one like I referenced in this other thread https://forum.seymourduncan.com/showthread.php?325933-Basic-wiring-questions

I’m really happy with the wiring. I feel like all the positions are very usable and I don’t miss the middle only position [emoji4]

The biggest experiment was the half middle in series with the bridge and I think it was a success. I don’t know if it’s because it’s in the middle or because it’s tapped (or both) but it’s much more usable than the normal 4way series tele positions I’ve played IMHO. I’ve just played at home with it so far but we’ll see.

I tried to go cheap and what I found was a Fender CS54 in the neck which I’m liking and a custom made Q pickup (tapped 6.6/3.3DRC) in the middle which was the cheapest custom tapped I could find and also sounds good.

I went with a thick one ply pickguard and I think it’s working. Also happy with the diagonal switch. I’ll probably put strat knobs to round it up.
