Guys,
First, big thanks to GuitarDoc, Chistopher and Beaubrummels for helping me put together an Out of Phase, Series/Parallel, Pearly Gates parallel to self + P90 blower design. The client was extremely happy and the final diagram follows in case anyone wants to do this one in the future.
Also, posting a short video- the tonal variation is superb- Here’s a little background
• A studio owns this modified 1976 Les Paul Pro Deluxe and wanted as much variety as possible without cosmetic changes
• Has a beautful, thick p90 in neck
• Had been routed for a Gibson ‘TTop’ bucker in the bridge in the 70s- Rather thin and nasley, didn’t balance p90 very well.
Mods listed above provide extreme versatility
• P90 blower adds back high end detail and a little volume- Kind of an underwound sound, but with a bit more gain
• Pearly Gates is perfect balance with p90. And parallel to self, provides a great ‘Fenderish’ sound but remains humbucking
• Out of phase provides the Peter Green or thin crunch sounds
• Series gives the powerful Out of phase/Series combination that really cuts through with crunch
• Series by itself is dark and thick- Great with Thin amps
Bottom line, we have a happy customer and an updated schematic and I appreciate SDUG as always!
Much peace,
Michael
