Wow.

Thanks for the recommendation. It’s pretty amazing. It’s really responsive. Love it. From beefy to jazzy.

I used to have an aerodyne but this is in another level.

That looks awesome. For those of us feeling inspired, what are the other pickups and how is it wired?

I've thought about adding a middle pickup to my Tele a bunch of times, but could never figure out an arrangement I was happy with.

Thanks! The bridge pickup is a Fender Broadcaster and the middle one is a Q Pickup with flat poles. I plan to ultimately upgrade to SD SSL-2 and JD.

It’s wired like a 4way Tele but the series position is bridge+middle, which IMHO works better.

The middle pickup is turned on with the switch.

Finally, the neck is out of phase with the other two. That was an accident because I forgot to swap the wires but now I like it so I’ll leave it :)

So I have 7 positions:
Neck
Neck + Bridge OOP parallel
Middle + Bridge in series
Bridge
Neck + Middle OOP
Neck OOP + Middle + Bridge parallel
Bridge + Middle parallel

Very nice, I especially like the look of the "stealth-ish" middle pickup.

Thanks! I thought the middle pickup made the guitar look busy and going all stealth limits the adjustability so I thought this was a good compromise. :)

A very cool, unique guitar- congrats!

I highly recommend the JD. I’ve got a similar setup except it has P90 stack in the neck, Antiquity Surfer in middle, and JD in the bridge. Very versatile guitar!

Nice! How’s the balance between the JD and the P90? I was actually considering the surfer instead of the SSL-2 for a change lol

And how do you have it wired?

Re: I installed and Antiquity P90 in Tele Neck

It’s wired normally with a 5 position selector. The P90 stack is a bit thicker than a regular P90 and so the body had to be routed out a bit. Depending on which amp I use, it sounds a bit dark unless I turn the tone knob up (I’m guessing because it’s so far in the body). The between positions (P90 & Surfer, Surfer & JD) are nice and have a good balance. I can do everything from Black Sabbath to early Floyd or even Dick Dale type stuff if I want. When I jam at my friend’s and we’ll be playing various styles, I’ll usually bring this guitar.

I haven’t tried the SSL-2, but the Antiquity Surfers are great. Very clean but also sound nice when overdriven. The P90 & Surfer combo is a good mix, at least in my experience. I play through an OR15 and Tweaker 15 mainly.

Very cool! Thanks for the details.

Hopefully I can get the pickups soon and complete this.

Btw, the OR15 is in my shortlist for next amp :)

Re: I installed and Antiquity P90 in Tele Neck

You’ll enjoy the OR15 - it loves single coils. I have a Jagmaster with Antiquity Surfers - I get the best early Sabbath tone out of the bridge. And with P90’s, it sounds even better. I get an awesome early Zeppelin tone with my Tele (using P90 & Surfer combo).
