Its a 2004 American Strat, and I cant tell, I dont know how to listen for it. Anyone here have a similar guitar and wants to tell me how mine probably sounds, bright or dark?

Just unplug the guitar and strum it a bit...that will give you a good idea of the tone of the guitar and just the guitarIf you just read a post by The Guy Who Invented Fire please understand that opinions change, mind sets change and as players our ears mature...not to mention our needs grow and change. With that in mind, today I may or may not agree with the post you just read!

I doubt in either case you could classify the AM strat dark.
in most cases the STRAT is a very bright to medium bright guitar acoustically.1957 RI gibson historic black beauty lester(DD/JAZZ)

If you want to know what the terms "bright" and "dark" really mean, go to a guitar shop, grab a Strat and strum it- unplugged. Do the same with an SG. You will hear a distinct differnce in the basic tones.
SG= dark/ Strat= bright(er)
