Hi
Do you know the specs of those pickups? They came stock in my brand new se custom 24. I suppose they have alnico 5 in them.
Thanks

Paul likes putting A2 in neck pickups, but I’m not sure. They’re PAF styled pickups, so A5 is a safe bet.

What do you think? I’ve been really impressed with the SE pickups. I put a real HFS/Vintage Bass set in my S2 Standard, and the import version in my SE Custom 24 sound virtually identical. The SE #7s that came in the S2 were quite good, as well.

They are import versions of the USA models, but allegedly made to similar specs.

I really think the difference between the 85/15 and the 58/15 is just an A5 magnet vs an A2 and the cover. I hear that the S versions are very close in terms of sound to the us made ones.

The specs on the 58/15 LT are way off in that chart. Mine all measure 7.6 - 7.7 range, neck and bridge.

The DCR of the "LT" set is definitely off on that flyer. I believe mine were in the high-7k range, as well

Sorry for the late reply. DCR neck pickup = 7.89; DCR bridge pickup: 8.57. Both magnets seems Alnico e both are polished. I don't have a gauss meter, so I can only have an idea of what of alnico grade are they. The bridge pickup seems Alnico 5, it sounds scooped with a pronounced top end. the neck is a bit dark and a bit muddy under high gain with a loose low end. on the clean channel they have good clarity with the neck warmer than the bridge (sometimes it is a bit shrilly to my ears). With a crunchy amp they get the job done. under High gain as i said the neck is a little bit muddy. They split nicely and I really dig them splitted more than in a full humbucker mode. The overall impression is good, they are versatile enough to cover a lot of ground.

My guess would be A2 neck / A5 bridge.

That's what's in the original 1985 T&B set, which is supposed to be what these are inspired by/based on.
