Hi!
Just received this nice build and was suspicious about neck pickup as it’s featured as an SH2n from an Hot rodder set...

Didn’t knew 3 holes mounting legs on NECK position was even available...
Are they all new?
Or fakes?

Thanks :)

Re: 3 holes mounting legs on NECK SH2?! Original or fake?

I've never seen a Jazz neck with a trembucker (three hole) baseplate.
It also appears that the pole spacing is the same in the Jazz as the JB.
Could be a custom shop order.

I can't read the labels on the backs of the pups. Could you please take a very clear close-up of the labels?
Could you measure the pole spacing of each pup?
And could you measure the resistance of each coil of each pup (red-green and black-white).?

The p'ups are legit Duncan, although they're pretty rare.

Would you be so kind to measure the polepiece spread? Is It 49mm or 52.5mm?

Inquiring minds would like to know. :cool2:

They probably just ordered them like that to get them to fit in the direct mount holes. Standard neck humbuckers have square tabs there that you have to grind down round if you want them to fit in a direct mount like that

The label on the box says "shop floor custom", so there's your most likely answer...someone probably ordered a trem-spaced neck. However, it is a little odd that the labels still indicate "SH", especially the JB, which has always been available as a trembucker.

I will warn people that there are VERY good SD fakes out there now, so be diligent and don't be afraid to ask questions. Also, if the pickups come from China, there's a high likelihood they are counterfeit. They have recreated the trembucker baseplates and even stamp them with the correct SD logo and "Made in America" just like the originals. Usually only small details, such as the logos, make them distinguishable to the discerning eye. Scary stuff!

This would be my guess. They were custom ordered that way- the reason doesn't matter, but the original seller should have let you know what you were buying.

Yes, but are they really trem spaced? Maybe they aren't, thus the SH designation. But that's why I asked the OP to measure the pole spacing.
