    This popped up in my inbox. Considering how dreadfully reactive and conservative most of us guitarists tend to be, I'm guessing purists will turn up the noses at this. I think it's pretty cool though, esp the option of tweaking filters for each string separately.

    Rather than use magnets and coils to convert string motion into an analog voltage for amplified output, the ōPik uses infrared light to capture the vibrations of the strings above it.     Great. Now I have to buy a smartphone to run it. Expensive.

    Sounds like it would make a good pickup for a guitar synthesizer.

      It sounds like a cool idea, I would probably try it and spend too much time tweaking and not enough time playing, ha!

          That's such a friggin' cool concept and I really like the look, also

          But every driven sample they have in their demos sounds like utter crap.

            I like that after all this time, people re-think how things are made. Guitar is due for a revolution, from strap buttons to tuners.
