  • Nazgul help

My Jackson 7 string has a Nazgul in the bridge that has an obnoxious mid range honk that I cant seem to dial out. Played with the eq on both the amp and pedals and its just grating.

Asides replacing the pickup anything I can try to tame that snarl? Its direct mounted so unless there are spacers under the pickup I cant lower it any further.

It sort of has that thing going on, doesn't it? Have an EQ pedal? Drastically different EQ on the amp?

Yeah it does and is quite annoying. I do have an eq pedal, may have to play with that some and see if that helps any, if not I may be either pick up shopping or rehoming the guitar.

        Re: Nazgul help

When I had one in my Jackson, I started the amp settings with the (in)famous 6-6-6 settings, then pushed the bass to 7, the mid back to 5 and the high back to 4. That cut the honk out and gave it a nice, defined, crispy growl. But, I was running through a 6505, so depending on your amp, your mileage may vary....
