  • a lil left field..

    hey guys,

found a dmz gravity storm neck (ceramic) in f-space in the parts bin and i'm thinking of sticking an a8 in it to be used in the bridge of a thin sounding guitar? reckon it'll work or should I just sell it and get a bonafide bridge pickup?

    here's the link. https://www.dimarzio.com/pickups/med...ity-storm-neck

    thanks!

Doesn't sound like a good fit IMO, although the mag switch might help some.
    I vote for real bridge.

If you were going to use it for a big warm sounding guitar it would seem a better fit IMO.

The Gravity Storm neck pup with an A8 used in the bridge sounds like a good idea to me, and a great fit for what you're after. It will definitely warm up a thin sounding guitar!

With the output/resistance at about 12-13k, and an A8 mag, and F spaced...it IS a bona fide bridge pup!

It's certainly worth a try. Since it is already out of a guitar, the mag switch should take about 2 minutes, tops.

its worth a try sure, power will be about the same as it is stock but with a little fatter tone. you might end up wanting something with a little more umph but cant hurt to try

It's a medium output humbucker with rolled back highs and a fairly balanced voicing. DiMarzio even recommends it for the bridge in some applications.

If it were me, I would try it in the bridge with the stock magnet before changing anything!
