  • vintage rail bride compatability with middle pos.

hey i was wondering....I've got this guy I wanna buy a brand new white vintage rail that I want to put in my strat in the middle position. However, this pickup is listed as BRIDGE pickup.....does this matter? I've already got a hot rail in the bridge position so I want to know if I can buy this pickup and just put it in the middle position on my strat. thanx.

It matters and it doesn't. The bridge models are a little hotter and warmer than the neck/mid models to compensate for the bridge pickups position being so close to the bridge, but since you are putting the VR in a guitar that has a Hot Rails in the bridge position, balance and output aren't a huge concern.

Actually, since you have a Hot rails in the bridge, a bridge position Vintage Rail in the mid position might be a good idea both tonally and in output.
