shred metal pickups? steve vai and beyond!

i originaly posted this on a thred i started entitled "somthing about the badest sounding pickup available.

thanx 4 all the grea feedback. however it now seems that i still have many pickups too chose from. maby i could be more specific.
i hava a marshal 100watt dfx which provides all those exelent settings and yes i have tweaked it to perfection.

basicly my main aim is be able to play "bad horsie" by steve vie but without buying his 2grand guitar as mine plays well enough, i just want that sound!

the pickups have to have the dirtyest sound possibe, maby even sounding dirty on the clean chanel!!(if thats posseble!) and to have such good harmonics that i can pinch a pinch harmonic ANYWHERE and still make it squeel like... well a bad horse!

i think that i have to chose from the "custom custom" "distortion custom" and the "full shred" pickups, all in the neck bridge position as i want a cleaner pickup in the neck possition.

also dose anyone know what a sustainer dose and where 2 get one etc..

you wnat the evo's, and the suistainer makes the notes sustaine longer. you flip a switch and it magnetically vibrates the strings to sustain.
if you've seen vai's live in the astoria DVD, he uses it when he plays "flow"

hmm u sed the evos wud make my playing sound ****, im not quite as good as vai!
so its between the live wire metal deedelys and the evos.
nearly there!!

well, the live wire metal is way hotter than the evo's. i've heard it's the hottest pickup made! so i dont think the live wire metals would suit you.
have you played the Jem? if you ahve, and liked the sound from it thentry that out.
if you end up not liking it, you can exchange it for something else at dimarzio.

Try the LV metal. That is one hotass pup. You might also like Vai's pup, the Evo, thats what he uses live, at least when I saw him. BTW: Bad Horsie is a killer song, I learned it a while back. \m/ \m/

i bow down 2 the guy with the gandalf pic, cudnt get the hang o the rediculous tapping! i think ill go with the live wires then as theyl sound even hoter than vai!

use what VAI used years ago the X2N! this will distort the clean channel of any amp!

I love the EVO for leads, its so clean and clear sounding.
