  • hums!

Hi guys, I replaced the bridge PU with a tb59 on a guitar with 2 hums, 1 vol, 1 tone and a 3way switch. I had an out of phse condition which I resolved earlier, but the switch and pots were very noisy. I had problems with cheap switch and pots so I shop around and bought a CRL switch and new pots. Re wired the whole thing at the same time. The switching is ok now but when I plug the guitar I have a hum in the background that worsen when I touch/move the wire from the jack tip that goes to the middle terminal of the volume pot. It worsen when I touch at the pot's end. Could the new pot be defective? I recheck my wiring according to your diagram and everything looks fine.

    Thanks

      Re: hums!

Hi I checked all grounds and ok. I rewired using a diagram I made prior starting to dismantle.

The CRL switch have 4 terminal /pole and the old switch had 8 terminal in line.

I didn't find any diagram with the lever switch. The switching works but could I had misplaced some connection to the switch? The common are joined together and goes to volume, PU are on each side with a link to the adjacent terminal . Maybe I did something wrong there?

        Re: hums!

        Hi guys,

I found a diagram with a lever switch and my basic logic was OK for switch connection. I recheck all the wiring, soldering, and change the volume pot again. I still have the same problem. I'm very hard headded with electricity but I want to learn.

Can you guide me as to what I should do/try/check next in order to find the source of my problem?

        Thank you.

        Jerry
