I had one it is like a steves special but has more mids and a alnico 5 magnet instead of a ceramic.
it is a ballsy, punchy harmonic laden pup that is downright underated.

I have heard it is kind of like the duncan C 5 but more agressive?

      here ya go,

      . the MegaDrive™?

The MegaDrive™ (DP107) is still available in all colors and both spacings. However, it is similar in output and overall tone to the Steve's Special™, which is the main reason we no longer list it. The major difference is that the MegaDrive™ has a little more bass and midrange response, and the Steve's Special™ is a little more open-sounding. MegaDrive™ specs are: output 350mv., treble-6, midrange-5, bass-7, D.C. resistance 15.03K.

Weird, I emailed DM a while back about the DP107 (I had one laying around...had no idea what it was). They told me it uses a ceramic magnet.

                Re: DiMarzio Megadrive???

i really hate to discuss dimarzio here but because i like my Megadrive, here goes...

i believe this humbucker is very underated & it produces very good tones too. there's emphasis on the midrange but the bass is balanced to match this so your tone won't turn out 'fried' (think '80s heavy metal devoid of low end). it's one of the better Dimarzios under high gain. here it is in my Ibanez S540 bridge:

I'm going to order one of these soon..sounds like a great pickup. Someone here though told me it was basically a Steve's Special but with an A5 mag to lower the output a touch and to warm it up slightly which fits the description seems like.

The megadrive is a great pickup. I use a 500k volume and a 1meg tone and it has one of the widest frequency responses of any pickup I have used.
