On the old board, I made a suggestion that Duncan might be wise to
offer pickups in grey, dark burnt orange, and tan, and discontinue the
bright red, green etc. I don't know about any existing patents on cool colors,
but would imagine that many players would like to customize their guitars with pickup colors that compliment the finishes.
Well, it seems as though Gibson has beat Duncan to the punch, but so far,
only on a few models, not on aftermarket pickups. I just went to GC over
the weekend and saw the new Platinum SG, as well as the Plat. LP that came out last year. The Platinum SG looks awesome with the gray plastic bobbins.
The LP looks equally great with the brushed aluminum looking covers.
What do you guys think of Duncan offering pickups in standard black, nickel,
zebra, and also attractive colors like gray, burnt sienna, and tan, most likely as special orders? I haven't seen many guys with red, pink, or green in the last 15 years.
