  • Pickups in Cool New Colors

On the old board, I made a suggestion that Duncan might be wise to
offer pickups in grey, dark burnt orange, and tan, and discontinue the
bright red, green etc. I don't know about any existing patents on cool colors,
but would imagine that many players would like to customize their guitars with pickup colors that compliment the finishes.

Well, it seems as though Gibson has beat Duncan to the punch, but so far,
only on a few models, not on aftermarket pickups. I just went to GC over
the weekend and saw the new Platinum SG, as well as the Plat. LP that came out last year. The Platinum SG looks awesome with the gray plastic bobbins.
The LP looks equally great with the brushed aluminum looking covers.

What do you guys think of Duncan offering pickups in standard black, nickel,
zebra, and also attractive colors like gray, burnt sienna, and tan, most likely as special orders? I haven't seen many guys with red, pink, or green in the last 15 years.

Aren't they already offered in Zebra?

I'm annoyed that 7 string seymour duncan's only come in black.

I think it would be kool to have more subtle colours which as u stated compliment your chosen colour guitar such as tan etc!

I'm not sure, but now double black, nickel covered, black/creme, black/white are offered as well as some dayglow type colors like pink and green.

So many finishes are coming out that it makes sense to stray from the traditional
black or nickel. Imagine a vintage sunburst flametop with dark burnt sienna pickups!
Or a silver, blue, dark green, or black with gray pickups! Or natural finish with tan pickups! I dunno, I think it would be cool. I'd rather see Duncan jump on it as a trademark before another company does.

I always use chrome/nickel covers, so I guess it wouldn't apply to me.

I like the bright colored pickups, I wanna build a green Warlock with a pink humbucker.

Actually I've been considering using some colored bobbins on my up-and-coming Strat but I dunno...

Dimarzio is the only company that can make all cream colored pickups. I guess they trademarked and/or copyrighted it or something

Yeah, but wouldn't Zebra stripes be even cooler??

                  How about Holstein Cow?

                  Or even Tiger Stripes?
