  • which pickups for me?

I have an Epi LP custom and I would like to put in new pickups. I play Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Clapton, the darkness mostly classic rock. I am thinking about putting humbucker sized p90s in. How are the SD phat cats and other brand you want to suggest. Thanx for your help.

I haven't played any Phat Cats yet, but if I wanted some pickups to cover all the bands and their styles as you mentioned....I'd put a set of 59's in the guitar.

No experience with Phat Cats, but they are their own unique beast. For the music you play, like Jolly, I would recommend the 59' set. Other options are the APH II set (ala Slash) or the Seth Lover set. The APH and the Seth's will have a slightly less agressive tone, a little smoother. The neck is where you'll notice most of the difference.

Have to agree with Jolly on the 59's. I really like the 59B, and I also like the Jazz for neck position.

WHOO HOOO i like the darkness as well! I'd go with a set of 59's mainly because jolly suggested them and he has alot of experience with les pauls both of the epiphone and gibson variety. The 59's also are made to sound like an older vintage les paul type sound so it would definately suit your custom.

Ok I'll check out those '59s. Thanks Jolly and everyone who gave their say.
