  • How do I identify pot values?

I don't know if I have 250k or 500k pots in my axe. Is there an easy way to tell, or some way I can measure them?

To measure the resistance of a potentiometer, use a multimeter on the two outer lugs. In this case, it shouldn't matter which multimeter lead goes to which lug, as long as one lead goes to one lug and the other lead goes to the other lug.

i usually measure the middle lug with one of the outer and on some brands, like cts, they have it marked on the back. 250k
others might say A250 or D250
on others they just have a part number which is far less helpful
