  • 2 tele questions ...

what's up people? I'm new here and i have a couple of questions regarding Telecasters and the HotRails for tele pickup.

    1. if installed at full power for the hotrail, will the middle position of the switch be humbucking?

    2. is there a way for the standard 3-way switch on the tele to split the humbucker in the middle position? how could this be done?

yes, they are contradictory questions, but i'm thinking on buying a tele and adding the hotrail. I just want to plan ahead on my wiring schematic.

    thanks.

    Re: 2 tele questions ...

if you have a single coil in the neck with a bridge hr, itll hum.
if you have a bucker in the neck it wont.
you can split the coil in the middle with a normal switchh but i dont have a pic. shouldnt be too hard to find though

    welcome to the forum!!

        Re: 2 tele questions ...

i bet you could get some guidance in wiring it so that in the middle position, it COULD be humbucking ... with coil splitting the bridge humbucker, you'd have to be sure that you get the polarity and magnetic pole situation straight when combining the single coil neck with whichever coil you split from the bridge

there are some real wiring experts on this board, so keep bumping this until they help out with the details

what you need to do is connect the series connection between the two coils to the switch so when both pups are on it goes to ground but like i said i dont have a diagram
