  • P90's?

What are the tonal characteristics of P90's? I've never tried any now that I think about it, and those new Phat Cat pups look pretty cool.

P90s rule - that's all ya need ta know!

To me they have the fatness of a bucker with the bite and clarity of a single coil.
Of course, they hum a bit, but it's a small price to pay.

My P-90 equipped LP copy (Agile 2800) can do single coil and humbucker tones equally well, and P-90s have a sizzle to them that neither humbuckers or single coils have IMHO.

I put a Rio Grande Bluesbar in the bridge of Dean Evo 60 yesterday and it smokes. Sounded a lot like the BBQ but brighter and more alive, if that makes any sense. Crunchy and clear!
Quality riffs in about a minute...

Best description I ever heard - "Man it sounds like a bad ass wire brush!" and yeah that is it to me. Gritty and bristly in all the best ways.
