  • World's Largest Pickup

I don't know if anyone else saw this on the Seymour Duncan page, but it seems pretty cool. Maybe Evan will enlighten us a little bit more on this?

What would you do with world's largest electric guitar pickup? Why, put it in the world's largest electric guitar, of course. And that's exactly what Seymour has been up to the last couple of weeks. He's been working on an episode of a new show in production for The Discovery Channel called "Big," in which they build big versions of things like a blender, a motorcycle and -- you guessed it -- a working electric guitar. The guitar episode will air on Tuesday, June 15. The show is produced by the same team that does "Monster Garage" and "Monster House." Not only did Seymour build the pickup, but he was involved in setting up the guitar. According to Seymour, "Once we got the pickup installed and cranked it through a 300 watt amp, it made the whole building reverberate and you could literally see the walls moving!"

Tune in on June 15 (mark it on your calendar now).

What you see will blow your mind.

As for the pickup, imagine Seymour, MJ, and Seymour's sons Cody and Derek working non-stop for two-and-half-weeks buliding a 156 lb. humbucker...

That's all I can say about it for now. The production company is making us stay really tight-lipped.

      June 15...

And what kind of magnet would a pickup like that use?

I'm a little more concerned with the strings on that thing...

What would they use for strings? I don't think steel cables would have very good tone...

Cute. But the truth is stranger than fiction.

Q: What vehicle did Seymour use to transport the humbucker?

                              A: A Hummmer.

                              I kid you not...
