Hi--
I'm taking a Dimarzio X2N out of a Gibson doubleneck six's bridge(yeah, I'm keeping it). I love the drive, sound and distortion the pickup has but not the clarity which is muddy to me. Is there a Duncan that can rival the X2N for the drive & distortion but give the clarity of say the 59 or JB? Man, that JB is one GREAT pickup, huh? The X2N just seems to have more massive distortion (to my ears anyway--hey, I'm an old man!).
Was also thinking of putting a set of Antiquities which I already have in the six. Even though I have them, I'm trying to decide which guitar to put them in--the doubleneck six or a 75 Les Paul Custom which currently has Dimarzio super distortion humbuckers in it. When I A/B this LP with my 72 deluxe with a JB, the 72 pulverizes my 75. I've also noticed that unplugged, the 72 is brighter and has more or that "electric" guitar sound than the 75 which is very dark and almost sterile. Got the same strings on both. I thought they were made of the same wood, but I'm a dumb@$$ anyway. Any suggestions?
Thanks everyone.
