the evh frankenstein that is EVH branded but made by duncan is one of my favorites. it is pretty similar to the SH11 but i liked it a lot more. I wish i could say more but it's been a minute since i played a CC. the EVH i own and it slays. i think i remember the CC being a little more compressed and a bit less open sounding.Last edited by superpete; 08-14-2020, 11:14 AM.Quality riffs in about a minute...

the 78 isnt as hot as the cc, but the 78 gets that first record tone. the cc is thicker and works better for later vh tones. i havent tried the frankie pup enough to give a good comparison but what others have said, little brighter, little tighter than a cc sounds about right

The 78 doesn't sound thin at all with a Floyd. To be fair, I think we are splitting hairs. I don't think either pickup can't do what the other does with different amp settings. The CC is indeed thicker, but it isn't miles thicker. Listen to your guitar...what does it need?Administrator of the SDUGF

The Custom Custom lacks treble.
I like peanut butter (the Custom Custom) but with some peanutty crunch (the 78) I like it even better.
