  • Phat Cats & wiring harness

Hi guys, this will be my first wiring job and I need a little help. I have a set of used Phat Cats and I’ll be putting them in a LP Special, using a 50’s wiring harness.

Are the Phat Cats braided as indicated below, or are they shielded with a ground? Thank you.

It's been a long time since I had Phat Cats, but the webpage calls out single conductor braided. So, that should be correct.

Sorry, still trying to figure out how this works. With the Phat Cats, is there a ground that I need to solder?

I ordered a pair of wire strippers but havenÂ’t received them yet, so IÂ’m not exactly sure what all is inside the braided wire.

      Thank you

The braid itself should be the ground. Then the middle wire will be your "hot" output. I usually push back a bit of the braid so that you can solder it without melting the internal insulation. It can be tricky. Just be careful.
