I seem to have been involved in a few Esquire projects recently. Was looking at the above diagram and doodling to modify it to work with an import single com 3 way.
Have come to the conclusion that the above is unduly complicated. Unless my somewhat ancient brain is missing something it seems that the Eldred wiring simply adds the tone in position 2 and then replaces it with a cap to ground in postion 3. This can surely be obtained as below. The variable value of the cap to ground via the mini DPDT on-on-on switch is non standard . The idea is to have some fine tuning options in position 3. Credit to ItsaBass for the variable cap idea.
