Angus Young High Voltage set vs. '78 Model - similar?

My '78 Model is like a Pearly Gates with notably less bass. Because it's thin and bright, it's able to get that VH1 "starved plate brown sound" out of a normally overdriven Marshall, without needing a Variac to get there. It works well paired with any PAF-style neck pickup that mixes with Pearlies: Jazz, Seth, Pearly, etc. IME a 59/Custom sits in between the sound of my '78 and a normal Pearly or 59. (59 or Pearly being full, 59/C slightly thinner, '78 thinner still.) I think the '78 would also make a great neck pickup for any high-powered bridge pickup. It's bright with attenuated bass.

when i read the first lines i was thinking that's how i would describe my High voltage set.

Specs are also about the same. A2, 9k ish wind.

Did anybody compare them?

MJ did suggest a few of Seymour’s pickups that are close to the Angus set – and no, I’m not spilling those beans. MJ also shot down a big rumor about what they are not: the Pearly Gates (production or custom shop).
