  • Wiring diagram for Esquire with P-Rails

I've come up with the idea of an esquire but with a P-Rails in the bridge, and wiring is not my strong suit. Esquires have just one pickup yet a 3 pickups selector switch, and so I was wondering if there was a way to wire the P-Rails to the selector switch with position 1 being a "humbucker," position 2 being a "p90," and position 3 being a "single coil" yet retaining the tone and volume pots. I noticed on the SD website that shows wiring diagrams that with a single P-Rail you need a volume pot with a mini toggle and no tone. Is there a way to wire the P-Rail to a 3 way toggle blade and no push/pull pots or mini toggles? Just wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction! thanks

I think you just run the red+white to the common lugs of the blade, have the center position 2 on one side of the blade go to ground, and position 3 of the other side of the blade switch go to ground. Same as an on-on-on DP3T.
