  • Ground issue?? What’s going on?

I noticed that when I press a string down and it touches a pole piece or screw on the pickup, the sound cuts out?
    Any ideas what’s going on?

This is in my LP. I recently mag swapped the bridge pickup (Custom Custom) and rewired it just like it was before I swapped. At least I’m not aware of any change I may have made.

What could cause this to happen.
It only happen on the bridge pickup or when the selector is in the middle position.
    Neck pickup operates fine.
Other than this cutting out issue the pickups sound fine.

I posed the question in a Facebook group and while I still need to check the wiring o was given a likely cause/solution.
I needed to flip the wiring due to an OOP issue. I may have left the bare ground accidentally connected to hot. In this case touching the string to the pickup would cause it to short to ground.

I’ll check it out after dinner and report back.

So sure enough I have the bare ground connected to the output lug of the volume pot.
I haven’t had the chance to fix it yet but I’ll get to it tonight after work.
