Also, what value is your tone capacitor? If it's .047uf or even .033uf, you might try a .022uf cap to brighten up the guitar.

Will a cap really make any noticable difference when the tone control is on 10? I installed a push-pull pot for a tone control that switched between .047uf and .010uf, and I couldn't tell any difference until the tone was rolled down 3/4s of the way.
