SD 59 neck pickup wiring

Hi all,
I recently bought 2nd hand SH1 ‘59 neck pick up, but when it arrived the wires were paired up different to what I was expecting. Digging around a bit I found out it was wired in parallel (B & R together, G,W & ground together)
my question is, is I better to have this pup wired I series or parallel? I am fitting SD pearly gates in the bridge if that helps.
I was just intending fitting them both as straight up Humbuckers, no switching etc. (Beyond my skill set as yet) so any thoughts or advice would be welcome thanks.

Welcome to the forum. For straight up humbucker tone, do red & white soldered together. Green & bare to ground. And Black to "hot", or output.

It's a great pup. My 1st Duncan.

If you're starting off with it, I'd do normal series first. Get a flavor for the pup as it's meant to be. You can always try other things later. The 59, in series, is a classic humbucker tone.

But . . . wait for other reply's. ;)

series for sure. a 59 in parallel is fine but isnt the sound i want most of the time

Absolutely series, if I had to choose one or the other. I think split actually sounds better than parallel, at least with the 59.
