    How about the Porter Ricochet...
they also have an option for a slotted grill cover similar to the center one in Artie Too's post.

I don't mind the ugly if it is functional.

What is the benefit of that layout? What does it do for the sound?

That certain;y deserves a place here. Certainly the definition of function over form.

A-ha! The Armstrong idea is alive and well! Relish Guitars Mary One comes with P-90s installed and a set of humbuckers you swap by removing the back plate.

Precision engineering and modern design combine to make a boundary-pushing guitar from the foothills of the Swiss Alps.

Funny, but I don't think that I've seen an ugly one yet. Unless of course different=ugly.

None are ugly to me, either, but some are weird. I am ok with that.

I've never personally tried them, but I think they claim that on the bridge pickup your since your middle strings are closer to the bridge, and the higher and lower strings are further away, you get a bit more fullness on the lows, less ice pick on the highs, and a bit of twang from the middle. The neck is the opposite, middle strings are closer to the neck and fuller, bass and treble strings are further away so a bit brighter and less muddy.
It might all be B.S. Idk...

These are really interesting designs. I will have to read up on what issues these designs solve. I'd love to know the story behind these.
