  • Pickup question

Got this axe on a trade. No history on the pups.
The neck is a Yngwie model not sure what make.
The bridge is a Duncan measuring 15.17K dcr ive narrowed it down to a JB zebra but not positive.
Pups are flush mount to the body and don't want to remove them at this time.
Any other Duncan bridge pups measure around 15K ohms ?
Plenty gain on tap, real crunchy. Really sounds good.
The white part on both pickups is cream color.
Bridge pup is not F spaced.

Here are those specs : my pickup : 15.17K

      Duncan Custom : 14.10K

      Duncan JB : 16.6K

      Duncan Hunter : 15.41K

Hunter is closest to mine and a Custom Shop pickup.
Has the Hunter been around a while as im under the impression that my pickup is older but don't know for sure.

I'd say it is worth loosening the strings and taking a peek. We can only guess here.

Mincer is correct; we're just guessing based on the details we have.

FWIW the Hunter was announced January 2018, which I wouldn't consider as "older".
          I miss the 80's (girls) !!!

Ive been setting up that guitar since Sunday.
Not a fan of the Korean Floyd.
Detuned & taking the neck off 3 times truss rod at the heel.
Finally got the guitar where i like it and won't be pulling/detuning anytime soon.
Seems to me there is only one Seymour Duncan bridge humbucker around 15K dcr but im no Doctor.

The plot thickens. Had to swap the trem block for big brass & pulled the pickup anyway.
Not a Duncan near as i can tell.
Only thing stamped on the back are the numbers "52".
Could this be an ESP pickup ?
I know some of the ESP Purple Tigers had "duncan designed" but this aint that.

Definitely not a Duncan. No idea what it is really.

"52" is probably the string spacing

Its not a bad sounding pickup. Bottom is really tight. Good top end/midrange.
Sounds like an Alnico to me.

If it sounds good, and you like it, keep it.

Does it seem like an OEM inspired by JB? That would make sense to me.
                        Oh no.....

Thats a good way to describe it. JB bottom is a little spongy compared to this one thats tight.
This pup could use a little more mids maybe.
15.17K for a no name pickup isn't bad.
                          Ive had alot worse.
Im sure down the line i'll thrown in a SH-5 Duncan Custom or Screamin Demon.

The Screamin Demon would be perfect in that guitar.
